well, ive made clothing before, but my clothing lacks something, which is texture. When i make some of my clothing i use noise to make the texture, but it doesnt do it. I need a cloth texture that will add the WOW to my clothes, and i cant seem to find it. Ive done a few clothes with textures, but not T shirts, ive done a sweater with a sweater texture and it turned out AMAZING, but my T shirts or tops are lacking texture. If you could please help me find a fabric texture for my clothing id really appreciate it, ive looked on google over and over again, but cant seem to find something good. Anyawys Thanks a lot guys! Hope to hear from you ^^

Regards,

Shawn Goodfellow

If you have a reasonably good digital camera you can get any clothing texture you have hanging in your closet or folded up in your dresser. Just take some shots of it flat and your angle for the shot at 90 degrees (or as near as you can get to it). Don't use flash and take the shot in a shaded place.........like in the middle of a room with the windows unshaded. Noon if probably best to get the most even light..........but a cloudy day would be ideal.

Don't know what editing program you use but in GIMP there is a filter named "clothify". It works pretty good though it does darken the texture quite a bit. You might play around on a duplicated layer of your base with opacity and maybe some bump mapping.

Someone here who uses Photoshop will probably chim in with how to do it with that software.

If it's just the weave that you're after, google the fabric retailers Most have swatches that you can download. Generally, they'll be small and untileable, so you still need to work on them. But, they're a good place to start.

PSP has 'textures' (I am assuming you mean like the weave in linen, etc) and I would be surprised if photoshop didn't have them. I use these sometimes. I also use noise, halftone, etc.

You can google 'fabric' if you want to look at some actual fabrics

I often use noise and a filter like crosshatch to create my fabric textures, it's just a case of playing around with the settings in the filter gallery until you get the effect you want.

I also like to bumpmap the texture to put a little punch into it.

Well I know how to paste a link, but for some reason I get a "Page can not be displayed" error when I try to paste one into a reply to this thread. Never had this problem with any other thread before, so I have no clue why it isn't working with this one. >.<
