Hi everyone! I am totaly new at SL and I am desperatly trying to uplad a t-shirt I made with photoshop. My problem is that the option upload pic will not appear under Go to File/Upload Image (L$10). That option and the other uploads to are not lit. Any idea what I am doing wrong. Do you perhaps need something I have missed? A subscription or so? I have Linden money...but I can not even preview Sorry if I am at the wrong place asking this...I have looked at tutoriels and guidelines but can not find anything about this...they all say upload under File....help...

That's a puzzle. Just to be really sure that we understand each other.... To upload a file, all you should have to do is click File and then Upload Image (L$10). At that point a standard search window should open, letting you choose a file on your hard drive to upload. If I understand you correctly, that's not happening, right?
If you have an account with L$ in it, there shouldn't be a payment problem. You can check your account status on line at the SL web site to be sure, of course. It's a good idea to have payment info on file with LL (meaning that you have made a link from your SL account to an active Paypal account, so that you have an easy way to replenish your L$), but I don't think that is a deal breaker. The only other thing I can think of is that either your client program or SL itself has a momentary problem that will clear itself up if you wait, or if you simply try going to a different region in SL while you do your upload.

The file on your hard disk needs to be in .tga or .jpg or .png format. I recommend .tga (also called Targa) for clothing, and for that use it should also be a 512 x 512 texture vefore you attempt the upload.
TGA files should be uploaded as 24-bit if they have no transparency, or as 32-bit if you have defined an alpha channel to use transparency, which is often the case on clothes, where transparency in an alpha channel defines the edges of the garment.

Well the problem is I do not even get to upload image. I did a printscreen so You can understand what I mean. The only option I get is the bulk upload and that I do not even know what it is http://www.susas.se/SL/Visa.png

Well, if Bulk Upload is live, then you can certainly use it. That option is the same as the standard upload, except that it allows you to handle several files in one operation. The cost per file is the same (L$10 = about 3.8 cents). Use that for now, until someone helps you figure out why the regular option isn't live for you.

Two guesses: 1. They're having networking problems right now. The post about it was put up at close to the same time as yours: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2008/11/19/post338/If you're still unable to use File->Upload after they fix the problem, then it's time to explore other possibilities. Until then, all kinds of strange behavior is possible. 2. I notice in your screenshot you're trying to upload while in Appearance mode. Try closing the appearance editor, and see if that makes a difference. It shouldn't, but stranger things have happened.

Yeah. Sorry I didn't mention that bulk upload doesn't let you preview. At this point, I guess what you do depends on how eager you are to see your T-shirt in world. If you are pretty confident and willing to risk 3.8 cents on an upload, give the bulk upload a shot. Otherwise, hang in there and hope today's server glitches are resolved soon. Good luck......

Point 4 of http://seshat-czeret.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-make-sl-clothes-in-gimp.html gives you a list of preview options, including instructions on using the Beta grid as a previewer.

I guess this is completely wrong place to show this but since I now got the upload to work and I made my first shirt and jeans I wanted to show them off. I know it is no artwork but for a first try I feel kind of pleased with myself http://www.susas.se/SL/Visa_skjorta.gif

Mycket bra! Du har mycket bättre om ditt första försök än jag gjorde om mitt. Gratulationer!
