OK, I'm stupid. LOL Could someone please tell me how to use the transparency textures. I have a full transparency texture inworld but if I apply it, then of course I can't use any other textures. This is, for expample in making skirts. Would I make two skirts? One transparent and one with a pattern? What else would I use it for?
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

I have never had need for a full transparency texture in making clothing, but that doesn't mean that there aren't perfectly good uses out there. A full transparency texture is extremely useful for many applications other than clothing, however. I have used it for hiding scripted objects (like welcoming mats or traffic counters, for example) and attachments (like facelights, for example), or for building an invisible barrier (a guard rail, for example). You can apply a full transparency texture to a prim and then apply an opaque texture to one side only, thus creating a sign -- or a wall, or whatever -- that can only be seen from one side. You can make a VERY thin-walled pipe by texturing the ends of an otherwise opaque cylinder with full transparency........ The possibilities are unlimited. Any time you need to have the entire side of a prim invisible for any reason, try a full transparency texture.

Harpfairy Kas, your not understanding about transparency usage in making clothes. Read the sticky at the top of this thread about Transparency & Alpha Layers, that should explain a lot.

Transparent is mostly used on maybe one side of a prim in clothes making.. But if you count the Ivis prim for boots etc. then it's in heavy use.

From: Dekka Raymaker Harpfairy Kas, your not understanding about transparency usage in making clothes. Read the sticky at the top of this thread about Transparency & Alpha Layers, that should explain a lot. Aha! Sorry if I misunderstood the question. Transparency is indeed an important topic to understand if you are making clothing. Without it, there's no way to control the shape of an article of clothing, so it's VERY important to learn what you can from the sticky, from Robin Wood http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLTutSet.html, from Natalia Zelmanov http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/12/day-447-semi-transparent-clothing.html, and from any other source you can get your hands on. The Full Transparent texture that I THOUGHT you were asking about is still quite a useful thing to have in your toolbox, though.
