In edit menu - texture tab - choose radial button that says select texture - then click on the surface of the prim you want to apply a specific texture to. You will see the white cross hairs appear. To select another single surface of the prim simply click on that surface. To select say two sides at the same time of a cube prim to apply a single texture to both use select texture again and hold down shift as you click.

Thanks so much. It took me a few minutes to figure it out. But it worked. I built a concrete wall with brick veneer and plywood interior. Sweet!!
