I am trying to make a simple wreath from a pic I downloaded but everytime I get it in game it comes up with a white background.
I use Photoimpact. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I'd appreciate any help!
Thank You!!!

Ok, this is probably easy for most but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get a picture into SL that has a transparent background

I've never used that program, but the way I do it in GIMP is to add an alpha channel to the picture, take out whatever I don't want, then make sure I save it as a targa image (.tga) Most other extensions won't handle alphas and will add the white background.

I'm a texturing noobie and this has plagued me for a long time.
I usually create a new image and specify that I want it to have a transparent background from the start. Then I paste whatever i want onto it! ![]() If you have a picture with a white background, you can just use select by color and then delet e it. I also use GIMP. You should too, it's free, and powerful! ![]() _____________________

Check to see if Photoimpact supports .tga and if it supports multiple layering. I havent used it in ages but the newer versions may support it. However, I remember the older version of Uleads Photoimpact didnt support it.

Only the newest version of Photoimpact (i think it's called XL) supports 32bit tga, which means that if you are using an older version (like me) then it won't work.
What I usually do once i'm done editing the image in photoimpact is save my image in photoimpact as a psd file. Then load it up with my bf's copy of Photoshop and save as a 32bit tga. I've tried everything in Photoimpact and it just doesn't seem to support 32bit tga(which is needed for transparent backgrounds). |
