I found a texture i want to bring to sl. So which can i download to my computer (from the internet) and then upload to use as a texture?

.jpeg
.eps

Which of these files can be uploaded to the game?

You can upload .bmp, .jpg, .tga, and .png. But avoid .jpg because it is lossy format and your texture won't look as good in-world as in your graphics program.

Can i open vector .eps in Adobe Illustrator then save it as a .tga for use in the game?

I realize your main question here was already answered by Rooke, but seriously, read the sticky. In addition to covering the question you asked, it also answers questions you don't yet know you're gonna have.

Sure, but you'd be better off doing it in Photoshop. Illustrator's approach to TGA export varies from version to version. In some versions, its behavior is a little funny.
