Seams in skin, on the back; shows for male, not for female

I am terribly struggling with the above..anyone as a logical explanation why a seam would show on a male shape and not on a female?
I am talking about a real seam, not the dark shadow you see sometimes with females...

By back do you mean down the center of the back? That would be strange as the front and back meet at the sides and that's where you might expect to find a seam. If the seam is down the very center of the back one guess is that the skin was made by mirroring one side to make the other and when the two sides were merged maybe the creator didn't get them perfect.

Why this would show up on only the male and not female could it have something to do with the way the texture is streched over a larger mesh?

I had a red crack running horizontally at the base of my skull. I literally looked as if someone hit me from behind with a hatchet.

It turned out to be my original red hair. I solved the problem by turning my hair texture to transparent in Appearance. That may not have been the best way to solve the problem, but it did work.

Is it possible that your skin is showing some of your original avatar behind it?
