i've read both the tutorials for eliminating the halo. i do'nt know what else to do at this point.
i've used the Flamming pear plugin (solidify) multiple times, it helped, but did not remove the halo. The Gaussian blur technique from the video tutorial also failed to remove the halo. I had somebody from teh Texture groups try to help me by taking my texture and doing it for me. He explained he contracted his selection and used the eraser to erase the region around the texture. When i tried this i DOUBLED the halo's size. Can anybody help me.

If you are using PSP 10 or 11 there is a function in the layers file list that will allow you to see the area the alpha channel exposes and conceals. Also, in PSP, create new mask using source opacity then save the mask to Alpha channel. Once its saved, delete it without merging it. Ungroup and then create a new layer of solid color (255,255,255 or solid black) and merge the image over it. That will kill off the halo.
In PSP you create the alpha channel (I personally dont use it for my stuff but I have access it so I can if I need to) then after you save the alpha channel to the tga, delete it from your layer list. Create your solid layer as before and you should be good.
However, if you are working in PSP 7 and using the automatic alpha channel or using the plugin floating here, THAT is your problem. For PSP 7 get the update to 7.02, other wise delete the file. It is irrevokably broken and incompatable with SL and many other programs. It was a failed experiment with adobe.
I hope this solves your problem.

You might find the Photoshop Layer>Matting functions helpful. Without more detail on your trouble it is hard to give a more specific answer.
