Hi all;
I realise this is amazingly general. BUT.
If anyone has any texture making tips and tutorials handy, I would love to see them.
I am trying to learn the art of clothing creation for Second Life. I think having my own textures will be much better than relying upon what's in world, or available on the 'net for free.
I have the link to Mermaid Diaries. I love her tip for making silk fabric. More things like that would be great - simple, clear, and easy to get started doing.
Thanks very much in advance.

Have you tried the Tutorials sticky thread or the Photoshop Tips & Tricks thread at the top of this forum?

Thank you Niah! Those sound great.
Rolig, I didn't notice a thread just about textures. But thanks I will check those out.
(Photoshop threads aren't quite what I was looking for, and the textures sticky is about specs not creativity.)

Ummmm... The Photoshop Tip & Tricks sticky is about creativity. It's loaded with ideas about how to do shading, create specialized textures, etc..... It may be focused on Photoshop, but the ideas can easily be used in any of the major programs. The technical sticky that you're referring to (Texture Formats, File Sizes, etc.) is very important to read. We get an amazing number of questions in this forum from frustrated people who can't get things to work because they didn't take time to read that one.

Rolig, did I offend you in some way? I thanked you for your help.
I didn't say the Photoshop threads were not about creativity. I said that about the technical texture sticky thread. (No sense in quoting my post since this is a small thread)
A general photoshop thread isn't quite what I was asking about, but I never said I wasn't going to read all the pertinent threads. Where did I say I wasn't going to read technical threads too? Or maybe I already have, or know the basics on that, but was hoping to find some other types of things. Y'know?
I was trying to focus on one part because that's what I am spending time on right now. But I'm not sure why the defensive stance. Your post is and was appreciated too.

Did I sound defensive? I'm sorry. It doesn't read that way to me. I was just clarifying what I wrote before. When you said you didn't find one about making textures, I thought maybe I had aimed you inadvertently at the wrong stickies. There's a lot in those threads, and many people DO overlook them, so I try to point out what's there when I can. /me needs to get some sleep.............
