I'm trying to create a transparent 'hole' in the middle of a .png texture in Paint Shop. I've filled in the area I want transparent with a neon purple color, set the transparency and the transparent area looks perfect in Paint Shop. However when I load it into Second Life I get a purple "ring" of sorts around the diameter of the hole. I can't see any such ghosted ring in Paint Shop so I have no idea how to get rid of it.

The effect you're talking about is called haloing. ("Ghosting" is something else entirely, just os you know.) It's an artifact produced by the opaque pixels anti-aliasing against the transparent ones. For some basic information on how to prevent it, see the transparency guide, stickied at the top of this forum.
