What sort of ancient chinese? There are quite a few eras, each with their own specific style of both architecture and clothing.

I found quite a few useful ones at TRU and at Texture Paradise and Textures R Us.

I have many rice-paper wall textures, some nice fabric textures (For buildings, the silk floral and such), and alot of clothes could be made with relatively common textures. Silk was used for a lot of the finer garments in just about every time period, and linen was used more commonly.

For roofing, most of the builds in Second Life use some sort of round shingle texture, and I recommend you do as well.

Also, the wood used is pretty easy to come by, I most commonly use a stained oak texture I have when dealing with Asian builds, and I just recolour it to suit my needs.

You can find some various Asian artworks in-world, I have one called the two kittens or something, as well as a couple others, and I use these as Shoji screens. I make two prims, each one is 2x1x.02, and texture each with half of each, which looks lovely. Coolest bit is that if you do it right, one side will have any lettering the right way, and the other side will have it backwards, like it really would be.

Say it with me, people. P... PPPRRR... PPPRRRRODDD... PPPRRODDUCCTTSS WWWAANNTEDDD... Products Wanted. There, I knew we could say it.

OK, now that you know how to say it, how about making sure to post product requests over there instead of over here. This forum is for education, not shopping, which is why it's called Texturing Tips, not Shop Here For Textures, and why its description says "discuss techniques" not "shop here for textures".

The Products Wanted forum, on the other hand, does say that if you're looking for a particular item you should post there. Head on over there, and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Should I edit my post out?

Very near the northern tip of the southern continent, there's a place that sells what are supposed to be Arabian textures, though I think some could pass for Chinese ones. Look for the big genie (ala I Dream of Jeannie) bottles then for a TP pad to take you up to the store..

And, yeah, what Chosen said, too.. :)

You could try your local library or bookshop/shelf (or google search for Chinese + photos), and scan in images of Chinese textures from books, them edit them in Gimp etc to make your own textures to upload in Second Life, as i have been learning to do.

Whether or not the SL system will let you upload that day, will be another question!

Best wishes from Ainee Kohime

Try mayang.com which has a big supply of building texture you can edit in photoshop. Search for "armor textures", "Metal textures", and other keywrods on google that will help you find what your looking for.
