Dear Citizens,

I would like to mention a few ideas…

Firstly, I think we need a detailed Sculpty tutorial written—one with images and a comprehensive step by step approach. I myself am a 3D modeler by hobby in RL, but I would still find a tutorial on how to properly create and import a model from Maya, Max, or Blender very useful. This should include all phases of creation, start to finish. The more detailed the better. And trust me, I’m not lazy—If I had the time and wherewithal, I would certainly do it myself, however, I know a lot of folks out there are more qualified, and have more time to create a Sculpty tutorial to rule them all.

Also, I think something we should ALL follow is reference image posting. For instance: when you are asking a question about modeling or texturing—it would greatly help if you took the time to attach a reference image of what you are asking. A simple screen-grab will do nicely. I rarely every see this done…and trust me, it makes things much easier for us to understand your dilemma if you give us something to look at. Also, an actual image would be much more effective than a link—if you don’t know the multiple codes for image linking, you can upload your image to Imageshack, and they give you all the different options after you’ve uploaded.

So…I urge someone, please for the love of Linden, can a comprehensive Sculpty tutorial be created for us SL citizens? And can we please upload more reference images in our posts?

Thank you.

~MB

Have you seen the tutorials linked from the Sculptie Wikis? They are quite detailed and produce decent results (yes they have pictures!).

I have been using the Blender tuts, very comprehensive and well done.

Hate to be a bother, but after much searching (Wiki, SL, Blender, Blenderartists, etc) I have not found a tutorial to match my request.

Could you send the direct link please. I'll keep looking. Thank you.

ps. boy, Blender sure is different.

Start here:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims

Then go here:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims:_3d_Software_Guide

And read the Blender section. Especially the links named:

# How to Make Sculpted Prims with Blender
# A template file to start with and export easy
# An almost complete method to export almost anything from blender

I'm too lazy to copy the actual URLs :)

And there's more here:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Talk:Sculpted_Prims:_3d_Software_Guide

All of these are links to the SL Wiki, if you typed in 'sculpted prims' in the search window on the SL Wiki's main page, it would take you to the first link.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

As a newbie to 3d modelling it would be really useful to have a tutorial from creation in MAYA to seeing it in Secondlfe

For the Maya part

Unless of course, if you're talking about free stuff. Then you'd have to resort to scraps of info on the net.

The part about exporting to SL isn't really that complex.
