Hello all!
Ok, I create all my logos in Flash. I then upload them as JPEG's in SL, and plant them on objects as textures.
The other day, I saw a guy with a "cut out" picture. It was the shape of a skull. It didnt have a background on it, but was brilliant quality.
He said it was definatly a JPEG, and said he did it in flash, but wouldnt tell me how to do what he did.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance, and all replies are greatly appreciated!

The only formats that I know that'll hold the alpha layers are TGA, PNG, and GIF
I may be wrong, but I'd say it defentally not a JPEG

Problem is that i'd lose A LOT of quality if I turned it into a Gif. JPEGS are ok, i'm not familiar with png's...

Before I start, let me address the first response to this thread. There's no such thing as an alpha layer. It's an alpha channel. For details on the difference between layers and channels, see this thread. Also, PNG and GIF are not formats that SL supports. Now that that's out of the way, I'll get to your question, Lamius. The reason you're having trouble is because JPEG does not support transparency. It never has, and it never will. The only image format that SL will accept that does support transparency is TGA. For info and instructions on how transparency works in TGA files, see the Transparency Guide, stickied at the top of this forum.
