I've seen in the new WL that Graphics settings in Preferences make a huge difference on contrast. At the default High setting, bright textures get washed out and tend to look yellowish. Turned down to Medium, textures seem to look more like in the 'old' non-Windlight viewer.
What should I do when upgrading my products and textures for Windlight? Go for the default High setting? In that case I should lower contrast and brightness from my textures in Photoshop quite a bit. And that doesn't look very good with Medium settings, sort of gray. And I don't think that offering several versions of a product in one package for the various possible WL settings is the way to go. That would simply mean too much work, almost impossible to do for every item in my shop.
I really need some recommendations here. I tend to go for the default High setting. Is that a good idea?

Nothing should change about your texturing process. If you have well calibrated monitor(s) and your image editing application shows you a good information spread (histogram) of color, highlight, and shading, then your texture is the best it can be. If you feel the need, build a non-destructive Curves adjustment layer into your texture image and label it "WL", so you can toggle it on and off as you see fit. What you don't want is information clipping in your original texture. After that, it is totally out of your hands, and up to the individual's preferences, their client settings, and their harware, to make the best representation of your textures. If no information is lost on your end, you have done your job. If you work with PS CS2-3, there are better tools on the Brightness and Contrast adjustment that prevent the clipping of information. Earlier versions of PS did not allow for this, and one had to be very careful when using B&C, or use the better Curves adjustment. Windlight pushes the envelope (and past it IMHO) under certain circumstances. If anything, LL should build a better client adjustable throttle on the current non WL rendering to eliminate the need for face lights (which existed before WL) and excessively flat textures (not just on avatars).
