I've spent far too much time making the texture for a shirt. When I uploaded, I looked it over in the preview window, previewing it on the female upper body. There were a few small seams here and there that I can't seem to get rid of, but otherwise, it looked fine. And then I actually set it as my shirt texture, and... nothing. No change at all, even after I gave things ample time to load, save for a few white seams in my avatar's shirt. None of the buttons or wrinkles I'd drawn onto the texture were showing up.
Anyone have any ideas for what I'm doing wrong? This didn't happen to me when I made a skirt texture.
Thanks.

Is it possible your new garment was hidden by what you were already wearing? For example, if you made a new shirt, but your current "shirt" was on the jacket layer, the new one could be obscured. That's the most likely explanation I can think of, assuming you did everything else correctly.
Try this. Take off all clothing, and then make a new shirt using the inventory window. Drag the new shirt onto your av, and then apply your texture to it via the appearance window.
If that doesn't work, I can think of 3 possibile explanations. First, your SL client could be bugged, in which case you should uninstall and re-install. Second, it could be a hiccup in the asset server, in which case you should just wait a little while and try again. I haven't logged in today, but I did notice texture loads were very slow last night. That's usually the first sign that something bad is approaching. Third, you might have made your texture incorrectly. For example, if you gave it an alpha channel with nothing on it, then it could be completely invisible. This is the most unlikely of the 3, I think, since you said the texture did display correctly in preview, but I still thought it was worth exploring.
That's all I can think of off hand. Please come back and report whether any of this turned out to be helpful. Good luck.

Often clothing and skin textures have been "sticking" recently where they won't finish rezzing, or sometimes won't rez at all. Try switching back and forth between your newly created shirt and another shirt. That will usually "unstick" it.

I just had the same problem today - I logged out, cleared my cache and after I logged back in the t-shirt was visible on my avatar. Yay SL ...

I figured it out: it was because I was being stupid. The shirt is black with some lighter highlights (i.e., buttons and wrinkles), and I was tinting it black -- I'm not quite sure why, I think I wanted to be thorough. Anyway, this colored all the lighter parts black, and so they didn't show up against the black background. Thanks anyway!
