I have a question about eye lashes, I was fiddling with the face skin and discovered that the eyelashes are colored to part of the face skin section however I can not find out where on the skin it pulls the color, does anyone know where on the skin it tags the color?

I am trying to remove the eyelashes and so far have been unsuccessful finding it so I can blend the color with the skin.

The eyelashes are colored with whatever color you have in the upper right hand corner of the head template (not within the guidelines). If it is possible to remove eyelashes altogether, I would like to know how, myself.

In order to remove the eyelashes completely you'd have to alter the TGA file that controls their transparency that's located in the "character" folder of you SL install directory.

Would doing so only make it transparent for me and not everyone else since that modification would be client side edit?

@Sylvia: Is it a specific area on the template or should I just color the whole corner? I am not sure how much needs to be done. I know that the previewer program available does not show eyelashes on the model so it would be impossible to preview it without uploading repeatedly until the right spot is found.

The files associated with the avatar textures in the character folder will directly affect the way your avatar appears inworld to everyone. All those files are accessed when the client sends the servers information on how skin and clothing should be baked into a single J2K file. I've done experiments with fingernail alphas and many of the facial hair and makeup alphas to get unique slider controled texture patterns on the face and body.

So, if you want to eliminate the eyelashes you would need to fill the portion of the head_alpha.tga texture in the upper right with a solid black. If you are wearing an opaque skin it is also safe to fill the entire texture with black (which is a little quicker to do).

There are ways to preview almost all textures applied directly to the avatar inside SL, including eyelashes. Bulky clothing is a little more challenging, but can also be done (sort of).
