Hello everyone, I've been thinking of making a couple of clothes for myself, and while I've browsed through a few of the tutorials and links, I can't find any info on building myself a longcoat/jacket. The in-game default is simply a texture, and I was looking into building something more like this. If anyone could lead me in the right direction, it'd be appreciated, thanks.

I have a long trenchcoat, and how mine is made (I bought it, didn't make it -- it's by Vindi Vindaloo) is that it is in the form of a short jacket, similar in style to a jean jacket, coupled with a "skirt" that is worn with it to give it the appearance of a long coat. It makes it pretty versatile, too, because I can wear it without the skirt as a short jacket as well (and frequently do). Hope this helps. P2

To make a jacket or sweater, which goes below the waist line, you need to make two templates. One template, as usual for the jacket and, another on the lower (pants/skirt) template for the bottom. However, they will ride the body tightly.
To make an open coat, which flairs out from the side, you will need a combination of textured prims and normal texture upload. You might try using the skirt template for the lower part and choose to open the front in Appearance. The skirt templat may give you enough flare.
Hope this helps,
Jen

Much thanks guys, I'll experiment with the skirt template (I originally though it was some skimpy low cut skirt template so I didn't pay it much attention )
