I tried searching, but wasn't sure what to seach for. I probably just missed something, but I was wondering why only certain textures show up in the tool. I have lots of textures that I would like to be able to select from the tool to apply to the entire prim, but they are only available for me to drag/drop from my inventory.

Only the textures you have full permissions on show up. This way you won't accidentally texture something with a no copy or no transfer. At least that is my understanding.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

But that doesn't make sense. You can drag/drop no copy and no transfer textures to the prim. And why wouldn't you be able to texture any of your objects with any texture in your inventory via drag/drop or tool? Why would you have a texture you couldn't use?

I think it's because as you scroll down the list, you can accidentally select one you might not want to use.

When you drag and drop you know which one you are using, because you can see if they are no copy or no transfer.

I do believe if you turn off apply immediately or rather uncheck it, you should get all of your choices.

If the no-copy, no-xfer rule about selections is true than I might guess it is in effort to keep people from shooting themselves in the foot with the horrible permission system that keeps not being overhauled.

Or, 'tis more likely a bug as the same limitation of "need full perms" to add an animation to a gesture is also present in the gesture editor with *no* workaround. Hey, I just bought this animation and I can't trigger it without a script? Gee, how helpful.

I offer L$5000 to the first person that can get a reasonable, factual, authoritative explanation on the matter and post it here.

I still don't see what no copy/no transfer has anything to do with being able to select from the tool. You can still accidentally select something from the available textures that you didn't want, so it shouldn't matter whether it's a few textures or all of them.

But the apply immediately tic box is what I was looking for. Since I can access all of the textures from my tool now, my problem is solved. thx

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound as if it made sense, just the reason behind it.

Glad to be of assistance, feel free to ask here or IM me in world any time you have a question.
