What is the easiest way to change the color of something? I us PSP, but am trying to learn PS. I have several tubes of white lace that I would like to use, but I want them to be colored. Like I am making a red shirt and want blue lace on it. How have you found to be the most efficient way to change the lace color?

i know Photoshop, so i'll comment on that..

i usually would use one of two methods:

1 - Variations: shadows, mid-tones, highlights. lots of control.

2 - Overlay: create a layer above the layer with the lace, fill it with the desired color, choose: Blending Options > Overlay. you may need to play with fading it's opacity to get it just right, but it's a great little trick!

..good luck! :D

I'll add to Cybin's suggestions.

Try the layer effects. Not only do you get color overlay, but gradient overlay, satin, inner glow, and several others, all with the ability to control the application method (hue, color, sat, color burn/dodge, etc).

Thanks. Blending with an overlay was how I had thought, but I wanted to be sure I was at least heading in the right direction. :) I hate to spend hours pulling out my hair only to find out that I wasn't even starting out right.

I usually go into the Hue/Saturation menu in Photoshop and click on Colorize then play around with the settings. I have tried using another layer, but when it comes to textures like laces and fishnets (layers with a lot of transparency), it's a lot easier to change the colors like that... for me at least. :p
