I have a weird occurrence happening with my PhotoShop CS When I create alpha textures there is a broken white line at the bottom or sometimes at the top of the texture I create. I've tried cutting the texture to get rid of the bottom portion of the texture just to see if these dotted lines will go away... and no matter how much I cut the texture the "dotted lines" always show up exactly the same spot as they were in the original size of the texture. Someone suggested it was like i had a "leftover" from my clipboard. I purged the clipboard... dotted lines still show up. So i went back to basic.... I created a totally clear texture... NO dotted lines Then i used the polygon tool and cut out the part i wanted and pasted it into the totally clear texture.... so right no edges cuz i used the polygonal cutting tool.... the lines appear! I dont know if this is something Im doing wrong or what.... a long time ago i downloaded the tool posted in this form from Fallingwater where it automatically set the alpha channels could this be the problem? should i go back to doing it the long way and create a mask every time? The strange part is... this dont happen to every texture but the ones it does happen to... i just cant get rid of it Any suggestions would be helpful I just cant figure out what these marks are they almost seem like watermarks embedded into my PS. thank you for any help in advance, much appreciated Jade Opel

You aren't doing anything wrong in Photoshop. I have run across this. I even tried putting my clothing texture on a prim and guess what, no white line on the prim and a white line on the pants. Other forum folks will likely have workaround suggestions and I will leave it to the experts there, but rest your poor wits, it is not a photoshop error.

If you delete it, that line will vanish. If you doubt me search on the forums for that and see Chosen Few's opinion of that plug in.

Thanks Thunder I had a feeling.... I did find a work around for that plug in though but its not effective... in a sense someone suggested to me it was like the dotted line was actually a reflection of the opposite edge of the texture if that texture butted directly up against the edge... i just moved the textured portion off the edge and taaadaaa it got rid of my dotted lines.... but thats not a very effective approach to have all alpha textures "free floating" Anyway, thank you very much... guess the old adage is right... if its seems too good to be true... it probably is Regards, Jade
