The repeating inside a hollowed cylinder is off. Is there some formula to figure it out?

It's hard to answer without knowing what you mean by "off." I assume that you are talking about the way that a texture on the inside of a hollow repeats, but I'm not sure what sort of formula you expect. Please explain.

The horizontal repeats on the inside of any hollowed prim are affected by the % hollow. There is a formula for calculating the number of repeats to specify, to get the results you want, based on the % hollow in use.

N * % hollow = repeats to specify, where N is the desired number of repeats, and % repeats is in decimal form.

For example, to get 4 repeats on a prim that is 75% hollow:

4 * 0.75 = 3, so you would specify three repeats, but would get 4 repeats displayed on the surface of the hollow.

To get 4 repeats on a prim that is 95% hollow:

4 * 0.95 = 3.8, so you would specify 3.8 repeats, but would get 4 repeats displayed on the surface of the hollow.

The repeats on the hollowed inside of the prim will never look the same as the outside. The total overall size is different but the repeats are the same. On a 50% hollowed prim the inside texture will look twice as big as the outside.....they both are the same repeats. That also holds true for prims with different sizes on different sides. A cube that measures 5 meters by 5 meters by 10 meters. On the sides with 5 meters the textures will look twice as large as the sides with 10 meters. You need to plan your textures to compensate. That separates the good builders from the great builders. :)
