Ok, so maybe I have little to no experience with making things....
But I want to.
How hard is it exactly, to make my own clothes, hair, jewelry??? I don't have a lot of patience with things, but I am willing to set some aside to learn how to do this.
I will be using Macromedia Fireworks MX, as Paint Shop is WAY too expensive to buy.
Anyone familiar with this software program? I would appreciate the input.
Sorry if things like this have been posted here before.....
Thanks, Lilly

Cool... content creation is good! From: Lillyana Hoffman How hard is it exactly, to make my own clothes, hair, jewelry??? I don't have a lot of patience with things, but I am willing to set some aside to learn how to do this.
It's not hard to do the basics, but it can be hard to make it really good. Well fiddly anyway. From: Lillyana Hoffman I will be using Macromedia Fireworks MX, as Paint Shop is WAY too expensive to buy. Anyone familiar with this software program? I would appreciate the input.
I don't know it. If you're looking for a powerful graphics editor that doesn't cost the earth, you could do a lot worse than The GIMP. It's powerful and easy to use.. and best of all, it's free!

hi lillyana,
there are several threads in this forum that discuss creating clothing using different applications...PS, PSP, Gimp, and so on. As to how hard it is, I would say that it depends on how you go about your designs. There are a number of artists that completely design from scratch...so the level of difficulty in giving clothes the sense of movement and such would be much greater. Others find textures and use the templates to cut out/erase shapes from the texture to give the fit a unique look. And there are others who find pictures of clothing and utilize those with the templates.
There are some challenges that everyone runs into. Lining up seams, especially using the upper body template is a bear, because the back is smaller proportionately to the front. This is true for the torso and the sleeve, so be prepared to have a lot of items at first (especially if you are using a patterned texture like plaid) to have some uploads that don't look good. I have been making clothing for a few months now, and I still have a fair percentage of stuff that I make that I end up doing over. As long as you have patience, though, it'll pay off.

Thanks *edit* Actually I clicked a few things and got a lot of folders...now I am REALLY confused....lol OK, try going to This Page ... Then you need to download and install the first 2 items: * GTK+ 2 for Windows (version 2.4.14) * The Gimp for Windows (version 2.2.0) and though not necessary, I recommend * GIMP Help 2 (version 0.6) Oh, and er ... Stop to sell brightest crayon in the box!
