Ok, I began a journey of trying to make a skin and found it very difficult as I searched and searched these forums and found absolutely ZERO tutorials for making proper skins and when asked for help people point you to clothing tutorials. I`m sure many of you been through the same thing.

I figured, well I guess if someone is good enough to make a skin they`ll figure it out on their own, so I began studying photos of RL bodies and got to work on the skin. I made an amazing skin, from the neck down. I still had incredible trouble making my face look realistic though I was using a photo of my RL face- something was just off.

Along the way, I found something very helpful, and I wanted to share it for those of you who are wanting to use a RL photo on your skin`s face. And for those of you who do not like reading instructions, like myself, this is in VIDEOS! And best of all, they`re free.

2. If you are not using a photo of your RL self/have photos you have the permission to be using, check out this site for some high quality photos you can purchase for your skinning project: http://www.3d.sk/

There are also some free demo photos you can use to play around with before you purchase.

3. If you are a GIMP user, check out this tutorial located here: http://www.shipbrook.com/jeff/skintut/index.html

I hope this helps someone in need.

These tutorials are extremely helpful. Thank you so much. I am looking at the templates and the mesh in a whole new way and also learned about some photoshop tools that I was not aware of. Posted just in time to help me on my first skin.
