If it's a jacket you bought from someone else, it's not possible to add a graphic to it since there's no texture layer above the jacket layer. If you're making a jacket yourself, you simply paint (or paste) the logo on the back portion of the jacket texture. If you were trying to add a logo to an existing shirt, you could put your logo on the jacket layer with an alpha channel so that everything but your logo was transparent so the shirt would show through underneath. You can read about alpha channels in Chosen Few's excellent thread on the topic which is stickied at the top of this forum.

Add a logo

First you need to make sure the jacket allows that it be modified.
Check this my clicking on it in "edit mode" and looking at the permissions. Depending on how it was put together you may have access to the texture on the jacket or not. In which case you will need to have an extra texture for your jacket ready to go. Now to put the logo on you will need a paint program, photoshop, psp or gimp will work. Assuming you want just the logo to show on the jacket rather than the canvas it was created on as well, you will need an alpha channel in your texture. Now since I do not know what program you are using and there are various methods of handling alpha transparencies depending on your program I will have to make these instructions fairly general. If you have not done so already, you can download the basic body part templates from the downloads section of this site. Then open the upper body template in your paint program. Then open the texture for your jacket either as a layer or in a separate window. If you opened it in a separate window then select all and copy and paste onto your upper body template. If you opened it as a layer in your template file then you are already there. position your texture as you want it to look on the upper body, then open your alpha texture, (the one containing your logo) and position it as a layer on the portion of the template representing the back of your jacket. Once you have completed these steps save the entire file as a psd. if that option is available which will depend on your program type. In other words it means if you can it is a good idea to save as a multilayered file as it will save you alot of work if you ever want to edit it again in the future. And from what I have heard that is quite common as things may not look as you expect once the tex is applied in world. Also save a flattened version of this file in either tga or jpeg, your choice. Upload the tga or jpeg texture to your inventory inworld then put on your jacket and go into "edit appearance" After you select the jacket category you can (if perms allow) modify and apply your new texture using the little fabric box on that tab. Once you get this far you will be able to take a good look at the results of your work. It may take a few attempts to get it right, but that is the nature of the beast. Logo's, trim, accessories etc. are an integral aspect of fashion design in SL and as such is a definate art form which requires an eye for detail. if you have trouble with the templates you may want to try using this Robin Sojourner's finished t-shirt template and tutorial. You can do so by following this link. t shirt tutorial and template I do not know your level of experience in these areas so I have glossed over certain details, although hopefully I have included enough pointers to give you a basic checklist of what you will need. Most likely one of the awesome clothes designers that regularly help out in here will pop in and fill in the blanks that I missed. Hope it helps. ![]() _____________________
