Lightwave 3D 9 magically appeared in my PC today while I was out (Santa sent elves in the form of mischevous friends to send my early Christmas present).

I have absolutely no idea how to use it, I'm not super technical and I'm not sure where to start... is there a tutorial out there that I can get to help me get familiar with this program and use it on clothing?

The manual didn't magically appear together with the software?

Ok, must be bootleg copy. :)

Anyway, I totally abhor Lightwave, mostly for personal reasons. Some people use it for previewing their clothes, but it may be overkill if you're just solely going to learn it specifically for making SL clothing. If you're seriously diving into 3D, then here are some links to general Lightwave online tutorials and forums.

New Tek (makers of Lightwave) tutorials:

Big bunch of Lightwave tutorials here:

Lightwave specific forums for asking questions and trolling:

Some of the other residents here might have links to SL specific ones that they've made.

Since you're going bootleg, I'd suggest bootlegging some other more appropriate software instead, and leave Lightwave alone.

The forums are still actively frequented by newbies seeking help as well as oldbies offering various degrees of assistance. Until the day they think that the content creation forums cease to be relevant, most of us will still be here.

Those who have left were mostly here to monkey around and cause grief to Linden Lab, and are of minimal consequence anyway.
