basics of making necklaces

Can someone tell me basically the process of making a simple silver chain necklace with a name charm??? I dont want detailed steps right now exactly just do you use photoshop, then......??? etc. I have no clue about any of this, hoping my friend will understand. Thanks

The best way is to create a prim in-game. For a necklace, start with a torus form and shrink, resize, move, etc. If it has a pendant or pendants, attach additional prims to your basic torus shape, then link them.

Then find a nice texture to put on it. Create an alpha channel so that when you slap the texture on the prim, only the metal (or leather or cloth) part of the necklace will be visible.

Last step: Attach it to some part of your avatar's body that isn't likely to be occupied by other clothing or hair items then Edit and adjust its position where you want it. But note that if you attach it someplace like a shoulder, the necklace will move with that body part and it might not look right.
