free textures in sold products?

I have some things that I'm making to sell, and I've been using the free textures that I've been given, or found at the junkyard, etc

but it just occurred to me that I'm not sure if its ok to resell something that uses a free texture

could have sworn I saw something about that here previously, but for the life of me can't find the post

is this ok, or am I going to need to scrap everything and start over?

thanks!

Maybe just drag the texture into the item, so people can take it out and have thier own copy. Kind of like passing it on.

I make cars based on a free script which has a free demo car. I enjoy building cars, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a scripter. I include the free demo car in my own car, and make sure the scripts are copy.

just my 2c

:)

Think as long as you charge for the actual work you put into building the item rather than for textures, it should be ok ^^;

the idea of adding textures themselves sounds good; probably would be more convenient to include instead a notecard stating that textures you use came as freebies, and put these textures in that notecard (just drag and drop texture onto notecard window when you have it open to make it a 'hyperlink' of sorts)

Selling something you buildt using freebee stuff , scripts/textures ect no problem for me, i know i wouldnt buildt much without freebee exsample scripts and textures in start.

However take texture/scripts ect, and slap a price on them without asking and then sell them to unsuspecting newbee's , then i wouldnt like it to much <.< i call that a ripoff of unsuspecting people who dont know better.

I used to do 3dstuff/architecture/texturing now and then have litterally millions of textures , but im so not putting more free into SL without a better perm system to avoid others slapping a price on them then sell, free is free shouldnt be possible to set a price, give me a option to put that on a texture id gladly give out alot...and i mean alot more ;)

; texture perm : not possible to set price on this

yes you can easy grab texture using a program, but then they actually have to do some work :p

Freebie textures are generally released to do exactly what you're doing: Creating objects for your own enjoyment and/or profit.

Some unscrupulous individuals take these free textures (along with free objects, clothes, etc) and build entire stores selling the free content with little or no modification or improvement. This makes some people (particularly those who created the free items) cranky and prone to irrational behavior in the forums.
