Before anyone says go to the products wanted forum, I'd like to say this:: I dont want in-game textures, or a place ingame to buy them, so I believe this forum is a better place....

So::

does anyone know of any texture libraries or sites or anything like that, with textures specifically for gaming usage? As in I don't have to sort through thousands of normal images with background, etc, and RL photos. I want to find textures to use in making wall and dorr textures (Among other things), but I want actual textures, not photos of a house that I can butcher into a piece of siding or a castle I can try for hours to make repeatable.... So basically, a gallery or library of tectures that aren't photos, that are user created or something.... I have tried to make my own, in a few different ways, and I just don't have the skill for the detailing needed to make a quality texture.... I don't mind paying for such a service or anyhthing, I just want a place to find usable textures for SL without searching for hours....

OR

can anyone tell me how I could take a photo or other image, and make it usable, using only part of an image, and have it able to be repeatable, and not look like crap without ten billion hours of work? I know, stupid question...but I have been trying to no avail

If I need to borrow textures or images, or find some inspiration for drawing something new I often search for Old Masters, Public Domain images, or use sites like Wikipedia and be careful to check copyright information.
When I am saving a image I either select save as option on my Firefox browser and save website information with the image in folder on desktop just for my images.
Or I select image and right click and select image and save as just the image.
Personally I tend to draw my own images, use a scanner and then make textures for colorizing images in whatever way I can figure out depending on energy through searching for tutorials or just experimenting.
If I am not feeling very well and adventurous that day I tend to experiment with parts of my save images with cut and pasting as if I was working on puzzle of the image.
Sometimes its hit and miss thing and it requires lots and lots of practice and mistakes.
In this image this is combination of hand drawn scanned image, that I colorized first with pencils, the plaid I used Inkscape, I recycled older wood textures and used different layers of paint.
The image doesn't look very good in snapshot but its suppose to be a Spooky Cookbook with memo stand.
Sometimes things work sometimes they don't
If you wanted the skull for example in this image you would need to know how to extract it and put in on transparent layer.
If you just wanted the glove and make them wider you extract and have to use the existing textures by selecting pieces to expand parts of the kiss the spook cooking mit.
I have discovered saving as web with Adobe PS the easiest way to make a transparent only image.
