Ahh, the dreaded texture corruption!
As it was explained to me, this is a bandwidth problem. The only way I've found to fix it is to completely get rid of the item that was corrupted, clear your SL cache, and then re-upload the item or re-purchase it if it was something you bought from someone else. If you speak to the designer of the item, (maybe show them a picture of the corruption) they may be nice and offer you another copy of the item. Make sure you've deleted and cleared your cache first, otherwise it will just look corrupted again.
