Are there any tutorials anywhere on this? I've been looking for ages but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated

When you say you have no idea, do you mean you don't know how to make any clothing at all, or do you mean you know how to make a jacket, just not one that includes a hood?
If its the former, start with something simpler first. Crawl before you walk. Learn to make a T-shirt, then maybe a collared shirt, then a jacket. Once you're comfortable, then go for the hoodie. If you already know how to make clothing, but you're just stuck on the hood part, there are a number of ways you could go. One would be to paint the hood onto the head template, at wear it like a tattoo. This would give you the best possible color match, and seamlessness, between the hood and the jacket, but it would limit some of your other appearance options. It would always be skin-tight, and it would prevent you from wearing any other tattoos/skin on your head. Another way to go would be to make the hood out of prims, and wear it as an attachment. This would allow for a more realistic shape, but it wouldn't integrate seamlessly into the jacket, and you would never get the color to match perfectly. SL lights prims differently from how it lights avatars. If it were me, I'd probably sculpt the hood. This would make for the most realistic possible shape. There would still be the color match problems, and it would still be difficult to get the hood to integrate into the jacket, but it would look better than a prim-constructed hood. If you've never made sculpties before, though, I wouldn't recommend this as a started project. I'd consider this an intermediate level project, definitely not a beginner one. Sorry I don't have a step-by-step tutorial for you. What you're looking to do could be done a hundred different ways, all of which have definite advantages and disadvantages. This is why you don't see a whole lot of hooded garments in SL to begin with, let alone hooded sweatshirts, which are arguably the most difficult kind. A loose, flowing, hooded cloak allows for a lot of ways to hide flaws. A tight-fitting hooded rubber fetish suit or something like that can just be painted on. A hooded sweatshirt is right in between, making it harder to do than both. _____________________

Hey, thanks for replying
![]() I know how to make to make clothes, I just don't have a great grasp of prims yet. I guess I need to spend some more time in the sandbox! |

if you are not comfortable with making your own sculpt maps, there are a lot of folks that sell them
I recently saw a set of sculpts on slexchange specifically for hoodies can not recall who makes them though did not purchase so can not attest to the quality either _____________________

A bit expensive though. 3k. Although probably worth it considering they are re-sellable. http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=535124 |

Be very sure with "resale kits" that you know what you're getting. There are different interpretations of "full perm sculpt maps" for example.
The worst from a creator's point of view are the sets of prims only that will always have the original creator's name and which you can only resize inworld. Others provide you with an obscured sculpt map which you can't download to your HD .. and they may not be good enough to use as they are. With others you will get a visible, full perm sculpt map that you can download and convert to an .obj file for additional modelling, texturing etc. They all have their uses; but it helps to know what you want before you shell out for possibly the wrong thing ![]() Isobel _____________________
