I've started making jeans and of course they can look pretty boring, wanted to see if anyone knows where to get patches/holes/tears for denim or a tutorial on how to create them myself, I don't mind learning and doing all I can first hand. Would appreciate the help and knowledge anyone has, thank u so much.

Quick way: Take a photo of your own ripped torn jeans. Make that hole from the photo a layer over your created one and then make the open area (the hole itself) transparent.

Ripped jeans were the first clothing I made in SL.
I created the jeans and then used some photoshop brusches (works with GIMP too I think) for the 'rippes'. I think it was these: http://www.obsidiandawn.com/ripped-jeans-photoshop-gimp-brushes-tutorial Well then it takes lots of time of cource to get it to look right - but thats what I did. ![]() _____________________

If you can draw it with a pencil, then you can probably figure out a decent way to do it with your favorite graphic program. If you can't, then knowing which buttons to push probably won't give you a satisfactory result. Tutorials can only go so far. Still, you might try just typing the word "jeans" into the archive search for this forum to see what turns up. For example, take a peek at |

To this point, Google Images is your friend. Just search on "ripped jeans" and you willl find more than enough source material, I will wager. This is true for clothing parts such as buttons, laces, zippers, pockets, you name it. Depending on the rights on the image and the degree to which you'll be manipulating it, you can find pretty much everything you need.
Another good source is ebay, given that people lay out clothing flat for photographing (which can be good or bad, depending on what you need) and don't care about the rights to the image. Just a disclaimer: I'm not endorsing infringing on other people's copyright or intellectual property. Keep your ethics engaged if you employ this approach and err on the side of conservative caution and respect with regard to what you make use of. |

I found this tutorial on youtube the other day when I was just scrolling over it. I love to see what people make in photoshop from now and then and saw this tutorial. The second life user in this tutorial is unknown though but she does it pretty nice. |
