SPecifically I made a bunch of custom brushes. How can I take them out of the program to share them with friends?

This is pretty easy to do. You just need to save the brushes into a library file (.abr), and then give that file to your friends. Here's how: - Click on the Brushes tab near the top right of the screen
- Click on the little right-facing arrow button immediately to the right of the word "Brushes".
- On the menu that pops up, select the Preset Manager.
- In the Preset Manager window, select the brushes you want to export. Shift-click to make multiple selections.
- When you've got them all selected, click the "Save Set..." button.
- Name your .abr file, navigate to where you want to save it, and click Save.
Give your friends the .abr file, and they'll be all set. For best results, tell them to put it in their Presets\Brushes folder inside the Photoshop program folder, but technically they can put it wherever they want. If they use the brushes folder, your .abr library file will show up at the bottom of their Brush Preset picker menu and Brushes palette menu when they start Photoshop, and they can load the brushes from there. If they put the file somewhere else, they can use the preset manager to load the brushes the same way you used it to save them. Happy brushing.
