I was browsing through my Second Life client install directory (C:\Program Files\SecondLife\app_settings) and found a file called viewart.ini. In this file are a list of many textures including ground textures with what I believe are the uids for them. Haven't actually tried to apply any, but the file is interesting.

There's quite a range of sandy (and other pretty good ground textures) in the library folder in the inventory window.
It's that little folder right at the bottom (under trash in my inventory) and has clothes, bodies, textures etc. Most (it's sometimes been all and might be at the moment) of the Linden ground textures are in there. Have a play. Oh, and they're all full perms.
