My girlfriend Angel needs a program that she can use to test her clothing out before uploading them to SL. I see that Linden provides a shape that is identical as much as possible as the character in the game, but I'm not sure if there is a way to test efficiently. Like adding clothign to the body shape etc before uploading... (but not within the game, I know there is a preview).
Thanks
If this doesn't make sense, I'm tired lol...

The avatar mannequin files are available in Poser and OBJ formats. The Poser models can be viewed in Poser or DAZ Studio. The OBJ files can be viewed in almost any 3D modeling program (Maya, 3DS Max, Lightwave, Deep Paint 3D, Body Paint, Blender, Tattoo, etc.). You can preview textures on the models in any of these programs.
That having been said, you already hit the key phrase when you said "identical as much as possible". Keep in mind, the mannequin files are for the base avatar (male & female) as they would appear in SL with absolutely no slider settings applied. They won't be an exact match for YOUR avatar since undoubtedly you have customized your shape. As you change the shape, the UV's move around a bit, which changes how the 2D texture wraps around the 3D model. As a result, what looks perfect on one avatar can look terrible on the next.
The mannequin files are wonderful for things like matching seams, and alignment across the templates, but they'll never be a perfect preview tool for any specific avatar.
