I'm more of a show me type person. I cant wrap my head around someone who graciously tells me how to do it but visual aids help me a bit more. So I was wondering if there might be a tutorial showing me the best way to get good results with baked lighting on some rooms in a house I’m building

Are you planning to bake the lighting in a 3D program? If so, which one?

The simple answer:
Build the model in blender but you only need planes for walls to texture on. Use blender units as meters. Place lighting, texture the objects, bake textures, upload textures. Done. um, well.. thats the simple answer. These tutorials about blender are very good. Search SLblender tuts at utube for a start. google "blender video tutorials" for too many more to mention. _____________________
