I am new to all this but have been reading and I have a question. Is there anyone that knows how to put a real life photo on their avatar? I would love to use my real face as my makeup. Thanks for any info you have.

The best angles for the SL face template are front and profile shots. You will want to take both the left and right profile shots unless you don't care about mirroring. The best resolution is something roughly around 3000 pixels (the images will need to be distorted somewhat, and a high resolution will minimize blurring) with as neutral a lighting situation as you can find. Whatever you choose to do after the photo shoot will depend on your skill level with Photoshop or a similar application. If you're not good with Photoshop, seek some help.

I'm happy to discuss details in the forums, but I don't do individual custom work.

I do exactly this as a cuistom avatar skin.
