I am attempting to make my first shirt and am following in Nicola Escher's tutorial...

However, I am stuck in step one...

I have PS 7 and the upper body template. According to the tutorial, I should have a layer called the UV layer. This doesn't show up for me. What I have in my layers box is:
Overlay, Working Layer, T Shirt, T Shirt Alpha, Victorian, Victorian Alpha, Jeans Jacket, Jeans Jacket Alpha, Gloves Alph and Background Layer.

Can anyone tell me how to get the UV layer?

Thanks!!!

I would try and download a new template file from the web site. I found it between the glove alpha and the background layers in the LL template. Unless they changed the files recently, that is where it should be.

i wouldnt really worry about the UV layer at the moment. it would be used later if u need to make clothing that has a lot of patterns u need to match between arms and torso etc..basically use the overlay as a template, set it to about 20-30% transparency and then work on elements within the working layer. oh, and unless u plan on using them i deleted the other layers, vic + vic alpha and all that.. it just gets in the way. delete all the others apart from overlay, working layer and background layer. it simplifies things a whole lot.

it should be

overlay at the top
working layer
background layer

then if ur pasting something in, like a tshirt..select the working layer a paste, it then means that anything u paste will be made into a new layer but will be inderneath the overlay.. hope this helps :D i know that that tutorial was a great help for me when i first started making shirts and tattoos... ( about 2 weeks ago) ;)
