Read the sticky thread on Texture Size, Pixel Counts, Video Memory, and File Formats at the top of this forum. The answers to almost any question you might ask are in there. If not, come back here and ask again. ;)

You should also know that increasing the size of an image always results in a loss of resolution. The general rule is to produce images at a larger scale and then dowsize then before you upload to SL, not the other way around.

Also, try typing "seamless" as a key word in the "Search This Forum" menu at the top of this forum. You'll find a large number of threads regarding tiling textures seamlessly.

Curious.

What is "harvesting textures"?

Seems like something I should know.

Cienna,

In addition to looking in the forums here, search on the web (or in your local bookstore) for Photoshop tutorials on making seamless textures.

There's a huge demand for really good seamless textures, not only in SL, but everywhere. If you learn how to take digital photos or scans, and tweak them in Photoshop so they can be tiled seamlessly, you will have a very marketable skill.

Either I just haven't found the right shops, or sets of seamless wall/rock/terrain textures that are subtle enough that the repeats don't burn your eyes when you cam out are more rare than fat middle-aged ladies in SL.

If you make some, IM me!
