Hey guys first off, I want to apologize for the mess right now at the Salon. I have been trying to expand the salon, so I do apologize. Secondly I would like to address the issue of textures and prims in attachments and hair. It has been brought to my attention that there has been some banning of my stuff because of supposed lag. I am sorry to all you guys had went through this. I contacted a linden today and I specifically asked about prims and hair textures and if they cause lag. The answer I receive was NO, THE AMOUNT OF PRIMS IN A HAIR ATTACHMENT CANNOT CAUSE LAG NOR CAN THE TEXTURES ON YOUR HAIR OR ATTACHMENTS. The point that was made to me, was that if that was the case we would all be stuck because alot of us wear attachments in general no matter what amount of prims they are made of and those prims add up whether they be on individual heads or on just one. I would never make something that would be of bad quality or cause problems for someone so I made sure this wasn't an issue by finding out myself from a linden. So it doesn't matter how may prims your attachment is made out of or the texture on it from what I was told. I appreciate you all very much and as always I make myself available to you all whenever you need me. I love you all and have a blessed day. If you need me please contact me.

hmmmmm we have always been told that attachments do affect load time / lag hence why we have needed to remove them for teleporting reasons.. Cause all prims/Textures cause loadtime/Rezzing
Strange but hey good luck...and keep up the good work on yoru hair. _____________________

Well since that post there were also a couple more lindens involved and all said that hair attachments do not cause lag. One of them even wore my hair and said that they didn't see it iether. I peronally get lag all the time but not with my hair, otherwise I wouldn't put it out. As always I am always availble for you all and have a blessed night.

I think the issue is more along the lines that hair attachments composed of hundreds of spirals absolutely KILL client-side frame rate.
I saw these for the first time the other day on 2 avs who both had curls upon curls down to their butts and my fps went from 20 to about 0.5. I had to look away just to be able to move again. It makes me wonder just how many triangles are in those spiral shapes. Have you tried using the ring shape instead of torus? That should look just about the same and at the same time cut down on the number of triangles exponentially and stop people's computers from grinding to a halt. _____________________

Hi guys, I did use the loop and not the torus. But it is ok. I took it down so that my customers would not be bugged about this. Anyway, it is all good now. And I greatly appreciate the comments. Have a blessed day guys.

too bad, since 1.5 i noticed alpha textures processing is slower than before, im known to build highly detailed hair attachment made of alpha textured prims, but well now it kill my rate :/
i will find a solution, maybe just upgrading my computer ![]() |

*hugs Missy and Kyrah*
I've been asked the same thing about my hair. I don't know what to say on the topic. I find lag comes at me from all directions. I have heard it's better to detach things when teleporting. But to have our hair banned in clubs was news to me and I was taken aback when I heard about it. From what I've been told, attachments with complicated scripts were lag-inducing. Physical prims as well. But simple attachments, like jewelry and hair, had no direct effect. I thought it was a given that it takes awhile for hair attachments to rez after a teleport, as so with the other prims around us. I simply switch to a different hair in my inventory and switch back when the hair I TPed with "catches up" so to speak. Either way, I don't want my stuff to hinder the performance of the game. What's the point of using these new prims if their presence only ruins the server. And the flickery alpha processing bugs me too. I might just go back to the drawing board. Make something that will work well with SL's present performance conditions. That is if I don't get distracted by a butterfly for something. ![]() Either way, I might just wind up creating a hollow half sphere, colour it black, and thus introduce the Lash Bowl Cut. ![]() _____________________

I thought my hair was lagged too, but then I noticed that this beefcake with steroids for brains was grabbing onto my curls.
