Hello all... so this is fairly offbase but I'm hoping someone has a solution for me. I recently had to completely reformat my hard drive and so lost all the previous settings I had for all my programs. I am running Windows XP.
Before, when I would have PSP7 program open already, I could select multiple images, right click, and select open, and they would all open up in the same PSP window. NOW, when I try to do that, each image opens up a new PSP window! waaa...
I know about file associations, and I have gone through PSP and Windows to make sure all the files I want to open are associated with PSP, so I don't think this is the problem unless I have missed a small step somewhere.
I hope someone who reads this knows what I'm talking about and has a solution! I will be eternally grateful... -crosses fingers-

Are you saying the whole program opens again instead of a new window within the original program, mine opens a new window within the main original PS program, all my versions have.

Hi, yeah, a whole new program opens up for each pic i'm opening, sorry to not be clear. It's so frustrating! >:|

I had a similar issue awhile back... I think it was after installing version 8 (which I decided I didn't like the layout of) and I'll be honest I can't remember how I fixed it....
you could try reasserting the file associations (file -> prefrences -> file format associations) just deselect all of them, save, reselect all, save.
you could try deleting the actual file folder association, and remaking it (explorer, tools -> folder options, file types tab)
or you could be extreme and reinstall PSP...
both browse and drag drop should work normally though, regardless...
also make sure you are using windows explorer to look at the files, and not IE explorer (it's stupid but they can act differently for file opening)
also make sure you're using right click -> 'open', not 'edit' or something else like 'send to' or 'open with' (open sould be bold in the right click menu)
it's probably a case of something messing with a file association, and causing it to parse each one separately, instead of as a batch... reseting those prefrences will usually clear that

Yay, got it working again, thanks for the suggestions, Void. For informational purposes, removing and resetting the file associations in PSP7 did not work, uninstalling and reinstalling PSP did not work (yes I tried that second, lol)... but fiddling with the file associations in Explorer DID work. Basically I just "reverted" them back to the original (the .bmp and .jpg/.jpeg were set to PSP7, but then there was a separate icon for the "original" PSP association -shrug-). At any rate, I am a happy happy girl now.
