Basic Clothing Class Scheduled for Sept 30

I will be teaching a class on Basic Clothing Design for the Non-Graphic Artist this Saturday at 10:00 AM SLT. (Noon Central US time) The course will be held at my home in Rustic, The course is listed in the Events calendar along with a SURL to my home. You may also try Iming me for TP. Just be aware that I often am busy just before the class starts and, it take a whaile for me to TP you.

The course objectives are that by the end of the session new residents will understand:
SL Avatar model and use of UV maps (templates)
Making a template suit for avatar and taking photos of avatar for reference
Where to get UV Maps/templates
Using layers
What is and using the Alpha channel
Using patterns & textures in the design
Saving to the correct format
Uploading texture file
Using DAZ & Poser Studios to preview your clothing.

Please note: This is not a course on how to use your graphics program. Student must already know the basics of PhotoShop, Corel Paint Shop Pro or GIMP.

URL’s to some basic clothing templates/patterns will be provided to help the new designer get started.

Altho i know how to make clothing, I am kinda intrested in how to use the Alpha layer propperly (I read the tuts about it, but I am more a do-er then I learn from texts) yes, can i apply for this?

IN ps Alpha channel is simple, pepople make it way too difficult.

In a nutshell.

you click on channels.
Add
This will be your alpha channel. Whats black is see through, if you pate white its not see through.

and from white to black is semi transparent.

You just need to copy the shape of where you need. NO detail.

So if you have a tatoo for example and it has a transparent background in ps.

you click on the layer itself and select transparency
then create the alpha channel and then fill that selection white.

therefore you have the tatoo show up but everything else (black) is see through.

Its simple i tell you =)
