I tried to make a simple sweater; nothing fancy, just a red, long sleeved shirt.
I used the undershirt layer, because it was meant to go UNDER a T-shirt I made for the shirt layer.
So I go into Edit Appearance, I make a new undershirt, pick color RED, do NOT use any texture and expect to be able to set the sleeve length with the slider.
But NO: The sleeve length slider does nothing! And the red sleeves cover all my arms, up to and including the fingertips! What is wrong? Has SL changed??
I also tried on a purple jacket I made years ago. (And used to look perfectly, back in those days (2006).) It is on the jacket layer. This one is textured, simply a texture for the print of the fabric, not a fancy alpha texture. This one turn ALL my avatar except the face purple!! Again: What is wrong? Is this normal in the current version of SL??

I have found out this has to do with the client version.
Mine is: Second Life 1.21.6 (99587) Oct 14 2008 17:42:25 (Second Life Release) And it has this problem. My friend is using: Second Life 1.22.11 (113941) Mar 6 2009 12:50:02 (Second Life Release) And she does NOT have the problem! Even if we wear the exact same sweater! Even if an avatar wears the sweater I made, is using the 1.22 client it looks good on her. Time to upgrade I guess  _____________________

That is correct, you are NOT using the current viewer. We used to see this all the time but not many people use 1.21 anymore.
You can upgrade or use workarounds from old threads. /111/1c/309954/1.html Personally I have found 1.22 to be more stable than 1.21 and would recommend upgrading. _____________________

1.22.11 is probably the most stable client right now. Beats the heck out of the glitches in 1.23.4 that make your head vanish, except for your eyes, eyebrows and hair!

Twice in two days I have changed clothes, gone out shopping in SL, and had perfect strangers IM me to ask if I knew I was topless. I looked fine in my own viewer, but clearly I was less fine than I thought.  _____________________
