I've been trying to figure out how the heck you make a piece of clothing translucent (not transparent) and all the instruction in the world isn't helping... does anyone have a simple file that is already done so I can dissect it? I learn much faster that way...

It's not a template per se, it's smart use of the alpha channel. There is a definitive answer here, in the sticky. To sum up (I'm NOT going to repeat Chosen's wonderful tutorial) alpha channels take greyscale information. Things over the white part(s) show up solid, things over the black part(s) 'show up' 100% transparent (i.e. don't show). In between shades of grey show up as more or less translucent - the darker they are the more see through.

It can be pain to judge until you get used to it in my experience - I think it's just a "getting your eye in" issue - but 75% white 25% black renders as pretty see through to my mind. For most things I'm looking at 90%+ white to get a really translucent effect e.g. thin paper with the light behind it (I don't really make that many clothes so the numbers might well be different there).

what graphics application are you using? eloise's comments works for PS. For PSP, easiest to set a layer at x% transparent and then create your alpha using source opacity.

Ah, sorry, I'm a mac user, so PSP is unknown territory for me.
