Angelina, if you contact Lina Pussycat in-world she should be able to walk you through what you need to do to achieve this. She runs an excellent class on using alpha channels in Paint Shop Pro, and produces some amazing results! She'll be able to tailor a one-on-one session to suit your needs Edit: My fingers appear to be shift-key blind

There is also a free texture floating around in-world. You can download free textures to your hard drive and then use them in PS. If you IM me, I will be happy to give you a copy.
BTW - I have NOT tried to use this texture in making stockings, so I can't guarantee it works.

PSP makes it really easy actually.
create your nylons on a layer, then set the layer transparency to the level you want
make sure your background is transparent
then add alpha channel using source opacity
see cristiano's tutorial on sluniverse.com, but remember to add one extra step. Once you have created your alpha channel, you can bring your nylon layer back to 100% visible (when you save as 24-bit the file will save with the alpha channel thus making that section semi-transparent in the saved image) and then add a background layer with a dark color from the nylons to stop a white fringe from forming.
