OK, this is beginning to irritate the peep out of me. I am trying to apply a brick-pattern texture to a triangular gable. However, every time I texture a triangle, the texture becomes warped and distorted. How can get a texture to render on a triangle as if it were a rectangle?

One way is not to use topsizing, as that is what is screwing with the textures.
What I do is cut a cube until it is just a triangle when viewed from above. Then turn it on its side and texture away. _____________________

This thread explains how to texture topsized cubes:

This kind of distortion is inherent to polygons. It happens in every single 3D application there is. You can correct for it though if you're good with Photoshop (or whatever your graphical editor of choice happens to be). Follow that link that Eggy put up and read through the thread. As the discussion unfolds, the subject is covered pretty well.

it would take 2 prims per triangle but you could cut them diagonally and put them back to back so they form a triangle when you look down on them. them rotate them 90 degrees and you got that same shape in your pic but no distortion. hope that makes sense.

Thanks for all the tips, y'all! Ursula's suggestion sounds like it might be the simplest solution, so I'll give this a shot, tonite. Thanks! _____________________

That was the ticket, Ursula. Thanks, again! I'm sure I had figured this out in the past, because this isn't the first time I've applied textures to polygons. Blame it on brain atrophy.

i would use a prism Ditto that. Prisms work great for triangular faces and don't distort textures. You may find a cut cube better for some applications, but prisms are pretty easy if you can handle the math. _____________________
