Ive got a simple question. Could i use a 3D modeling program such as 3D Canvas Pro to create my own character? Ive read and read and read till my eyes fried and i still have no clue how to make skins and clothing using PSP 7................it really pisses me off. I read all these things of people making their own clothing or skins and it looks so but i cant even begin. Really frustrating if you ask me. But would there be anyway for a 3D Canvas pro user to create a custom character an upload it in the game and walk around looking like the person i create? I honestly think it would be much easier for me to create my own custom skins and avys that way because i dont know shit about PSP 7 and everyones walkthroughs just confuse me cause i dont know where the correct tools are in PSP 7. ummmmmmmmm if you think i might be able to or even think its an obsurd question let me know lol. heres a simple screen capture of 3D Canvas pro. please respond =). I just wanna make my char look unique and diffrent and maybe open up my own shop!

I could be wrong, but I don't think so. You cannot, to my knowledge, create a 3D object and import it into SL.
There are some handy beginner tutorials for PS out on the web... check them out. |

3D modeling programs won't be much assistance to you for designing clothing and skins if you are just starting out in SL, sorry to say.
Valiant, you need to download all the template files from the SL web site, if you haven't already (face, upper body, and lower body templates) and any items of clothing textures that you think might help you out. Study these files in an photo/image processing application like Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, or Gimp. You will have to learn one of those 3 programs to become skilled at doing skins or clothing in SL. Until the Lindens release the developing tools used to build the polygonal models that our avatars are based upon (highly unlikely), we are limited to using image manipulation programs to work on flat templates to texture these 3D avatars. Maybe at a future point in time some of us residents will release a close facimili of the SL avatar in one of the many 3D applications out there. Poser 5 would be the ideal application for this (animation exported from this application is already supported by SL). Only then will we have a few more options to do avatar skinning and clothing in SL ![]() _____________________
