You can upload images from the file menu. The uploaded image will go into your texture folder in your inventory. To place it in your first life pic, open your profile, go to the first life tab, and drag and drop the texture from your inventory into the first life picture box.

You can also left click on the image area in your profile you want to fill. Another small window will pop up with your texture/image choices; highlight the one you want and hit 'Select.' I've had this take a few tries before it actually stayed, so don't be discouraged if that happens to you.

And it works precisely the same way for your main profile picture, as well.

From: Ceera Murakami And it works precisely the same way for your main profile picture, as well. Except that you'll want to re-size an image that is about 30% wider than it is tall to be square (therefore squishing it a bit) before uploading it. The main profile pic is about 30% wider than it is tall, and you can't upload a picture with those proportions.

I find that an image size of 512x384 works well for the Second Life profile and for classifieds. It's close enough to the correct aspect ration that it won't look blurry.
