I'm part of a small team working on an island, and I think we've discovered a very annoying bug.
Supposedly textures are affected by altitude. Yet we're running into a "blotchy" lookin on the island. In some places, the sand texture (meant for the bottom of a bay, at the low point in rivers, etc) is showing up on the higher hills, while out bay's bottom displays the verdant green of grass from the hill tops.
Yes, the textures are in the right place. They even look *mostly* right through the region - but in many places, the position defies logic.
Anyone else had dis problem, an more importantly - anyone knw a way around it? We dun really need a grassy ocean inlet.

This unfortunately is just something we have to live with, at least until they get around to fixing it. I suspect it's not an incredibly high priority bug, but I agree with you; it's annoying.
For what it's worth, I've noticed that it does tend to look different on different machines. Ironically, it seems the lower quality the video card, the less noticeable the problem is. On the cheezy laptop I'm sing right now as I write this (currently traveling), those wrong-texture-patches barely show up at all. On my high end desk top, they're sore thumbs from hell.
If it's really bugging you, you can cover up the problem areas with prims textured to look like land. It's obviously not an ideal solution, but it works ok.

I've got a fairly mid-range machine, rapidly moving towards low-end, an they are purty obvious. I'd hate to go prims, but dat might be the only route open. Mari
