There are quite a few classes in-world for making jewelry. I went to one at TUI, where I learned how to make nice earrings. I think Teazers does some too.
Search for Events > Educational.
Also, depending on what type of earrings you want to do (prim-focused or texture-focused), you might have more answers in "Building". Read the sticky on tiny prims. Very useful.
