im no genius but I will do my best to help you out man, 2 things I missed starting out was, I didnt turn of the alpha channel after I created it which u have to do, and turn back on the red green and blue channels. and another thing I didnt delete the alpha channel that was already in there before creating one. that should work man,
this is what I do.........
make sure I go in to the channel tab and delete the alpha channel thats already there first.
then back to layers, Cntrl click the small picture of the layer in the layer tab, ( Cntrl + Shift click if theres more than 1 layers)
back into channels, click the sqaure with a circle inside it to create the alpha channel.
make sure the red green blue are clicked back on ( the small boxes next to them, click so they have spirals in) and the alpha channel u just made is clicked off ( no spiral)
should do the trick.
at first I was lost with it all but it clicks after a while so dont worry no one uploads a faultless item in there first trys.

Make sure you are saving your file in the targa format (.tga) and when saving select the 32 bit option, not 24.

Have you tried uploading the texture into SL and seeing how it looks on the female upper body before you commit to upload it? I noticed your picture is from the slcp and when i view clothing on it i always see white although the alpha is really there. Just a thought.

From my experience, the clothing previewer doesn't reliably show alpha. There's another previewer that does, and also allows simple painting on the avatar (useful for creating guides to embellish in photoshop), called AvPainter.
